"Rising Above the Gathering Storm" Norman Augustine, retired chairman and CEO of Lockheed Martin Corporation.
The University System of Maryland Langenberg Lecture
Hosted by UMBC's College of Engineering and Information Technology (RR)
Following a distinguished career in public service and industry, Mr. Augustine, an aeronautical engineer, recently led the National Academies Committee on Prospering in the Global Economy of the 21st Century. He will speak about the group's report, Rising Above the Gathering Storm, which calls for dramatic investments and improvement in K-12 science and mathematics education.

Denise and R.J. want their baby back. Held up in a cheap motel they impatiently await a social worker's verdict while fending off the antics of a drunken housekeeper. With a wink to Jerry Springer, this darkly entertaining comedy exposes the human desperation behind class prejudice and questions the reach of social control. Tickets available through MissionTix at www.missiontix.com or by calling 410-752-8950. Proceeds benefit the Department of Theatre Scholarship Fund. Adult language and content. The performance will be preceded by a reception for UMBC theatre alumni at 4 p.m. in the UMBC Theatre.
