          question   "Was   ist  deutsch?"  from  an
          intercultural  perspective. We  will study
          how  Germans perceive themselves nowadays,
          and how this perception has changed in the
          course  of German history. We will look at
          how  the Germans are  perceived by others,
          in particular by minorities in Germany. We
          will  study  how  the  influx  of  various
          ethnic groups into Germany is transforming
          German   society   into  a  heterogeneous,
          multilingual,  and  multicultural society,
          what  problems this change  brings with it
          and  how  it  has  impacted the  notion of
          German identity.
