Computer Art: Landscape Cubed
(PermReq) Grade Method: REG/P-F/AUD Open to IRC
Fellows only; course will meet in ITE 109.
From painting to sculpture, from panoramic
photography to QuickTime VR, and from
dioramas to virtual reality, the
challenges of effectively representing or
recreating a landscape are enormous. This
course will look specifically at issues of
unwrapping an environment to create a 2D
image, and wrapping an image to be a 3D.
Students will use panoramic photograpy,
QuickTime VR, 3D modeling, and 2-3D paint
programs to both recreate real world
landscapes and to present fictitious
environments. A mixture of individual and
group projects will allow students to
create 2D and 3D environments as formal
landscapes or as a locales for events.
This course is for students in the IRC
Fellows Program only. Also listed as ART
