INDS 330 Ways of Knowing 3 credits

(PermReq) Grade Method: REG This course will offer
          students an introduction to
          interdisciplinary studies. Beginning with
          the question "Why interdisciplinary?" the
course will then proceed to an examination
          of the history of interdisciplinary
studies as an academic field, an
exploration of the elements of the
disciplines and their importance to the
          interdisciplinary process, and, finally,
an introduction to different models of
integration. Students will engage in the
          interdisciplinary process as applied to
current complex issues and will also have
          the opportunity to apply interdisciplinary
theories to the development of their
          self-designated majors.

          Business of Medicine

(PermReq) Grade Method: REG/P-F/AUD This course
explores the business drivers of medicine
in and outside of the U.S., utilizing an
          interdisciplinary approach to identifying,
          measuring, and debating the consequences
of many forces that have shaped our
          current medicine systems. Using a
          combination of economics, public policy,
          marketing, public health, social science
          and quantitative research methods,
          students will debate successes and
failures. In an effort to create a
          real-world setting, several
          multidisciplinary problems will be
addressed by students. They will define
          problems, conduct research, present
solutions and defend their positions in
          role playing scenarios.
