INDS 330 Ways of Knowing 3 credits
(PermReq) Grade Method: REG This course will offer
students an introduction to
interdisciplinary studies. Beginning with
the question "Why interdisciplinary?" the
course will then proceed to an examination
of the history of interdisciplinary
studies as an academic field, an
exploration of the elements of the
disciplines and their importance to the
interdisciplinary process, and, finally,
an introduction to different models of
integration. Students will engage in the
interdisciplinary process as applied to
current complex issues and will also have
the opportunity to apply interdisciplinary
theories to the development of their
self-designated majors.

INDS 430B Interdisciplinary Studies Seminar The 3 credits
Business of Medicine
(PermReq) Grade Method: REG/P-F/AUD This course
explores the business drivers of medicine
in and outside of the U.S., utilizing an
interdisciplinary approach to identifying,
measuring, and debating the consequences
of many forces that have shaped our
current medicine systems. Using a
combination of economics, public policy,
marketing, public health, social science
and quantitative research methods,
students will debate successes and
failures. In an effort to create a
real-world setting, several
multidisciplinary problems will be
addressed by students. They will define
problems, conduct research, present
solutions and defend their positions in
role playing scenarios.
