          Field Research

          field  research  methods  to gain  a cross
          cultural     perspective    on    culture,
          lifestyle,  public  opinion,  and  policy.
          Site   visits  include  the  World  Health
          Organization,   the  United  Nations,  the
          International Red Cross Museum, the Castle
          of    Chillon.    Students   select   from
          additional  options  to conduct  their own
          research.  Class will meet once a week for
          seven  weeks  during  Spring  semester and
          students   spend   a   week   in   Leysin,
          Switzerland      to     complete     their
          international  field research. Also listed

          concepts  such  as  aging, and  the social
          determinants of health and disability from
          a  cross  cultural  perspective.  Students
          will   applyfield   research   methods  to
          conduct a survey of attitiudes and values,
          a community case study, and site visits to
          the  World  Health  Organization  and  the
          International  Red Cross Museum in Geneve.
          Class  will  meet  once  a week  for seven
          weeks   during  the  Spring  semester  and
          students   spend   a   week   in   Leysin,
          Switzerland in June 2003 to complete their
          field research.
