designed to introduce the non-science
student to science and its methods and
provide a basic understanding of some body
functions and dysfunctions. Topics include
cells and cancer, metabolism and
nutrition, muscles and exercise, nervous
system and drugs, reproduction and birth
control, STD's and HIV, respiration and
smoking, circulation and heart attack,
etc. Recommended: High school biology and
chemistry. In addition to the requirements
for the regular BIOL 106 course, honors
students will attend an additional
discussion session per week. Additional
reading and writing assignments will also
