teach students to analyze data using SAS
software. Students will be introduced to
basic principles of SAS programming. They
will learn how to read data in a SAS
database. The course will then focus on
how to use SAS data analysis techniques to
evaluate data. Prerequisites: For SOCY
497, SOCY 300 or the equivalent or
permission of the instructor. Class will

Practices in Health and Aging
Grade Method: REG/AUD Examines the concept
of the "best practices" through the study
of internationally recognized model
programs in community health,
rehabilitation, and long term care. It
explores the process of developing model
programs and the policy and logistical
reguirements for their cross-cultural
implementation. This course combines
classroom discussion and exercises with a
week of study abroad. For the Spring 2003
course students have the opportunity to
examine community-based approaches to
long-care in Denmark, drug abuse treatment
and prevention in Scotland, or
rehabilitation and community reintegration
in Portugal. The travel portion of this
course is scheduled to occur once classes
have ened in the early summer. This class
will meet in the Public Policy building
room 203.
