ELC 043 ESL: Speaking and Listening for Academic 5 credits
Purposes

Increases the spoken fluency and listening comprehension of high intermediate ESL students and introduces them to English appropriate to an academic environment. Required for students with conditional admission.

ELC 051 ESL: Advanced Writing and Grammar for 3 credits
Academic Purposes

Prepares advanced ESL students to write in English with university-level competence and accuracy. Through the process of prewriting, composing, revising and editing, students practice the use of terminology and grammatical structures appropriate to the academic assignments they are likely to encounter. ELC 053 ESL: Advanced Speaking and Listening for 5 credits
Academic Purposes
|
Provides advanced ESL students extensive practice in effective English communication skills and strategies for academic environments. Students work on listening comprehension, student-centered communicative activities and individually-focused pronunciation skill development. In addition to regular class hours, the course includes two hours of instructor-guided computer lab work. Prerequisite: ELC 043 or permission of instructor.
