AFST 347 Women and the Media: Myths, Images and 3 credits

| After a critical examination of how women are portrayed in the media and the arts, the course will discuss the new images women are constructing of themselves. The course will analyze examples from the mass media, from the folklore of the world, from adult and children's literature, and the other arts. The perspective throughout is multiethnic and cross-cultural. Audiovisual materials and interdisciplinary lectures will be supplemented by field work assigned in certain areas.
