FREN 101 Elementary French I (L) 4 credits

HYBRID COURSE - This course is designed to provide students with short but repeated learning events to help develop the basic language skills leading to proficiency; listening, comprehension, speaking, reading and writing. Students also learn about the cultures of France and other French-speaking countries. The class will meet face-to-face every Tuesday and Thursday for short presentations, kinetic synthesis exercises in context, video, work and exams. It will also meet online in asynchronous environment on Wednesdays from 10:00 - 11:00 am for a short interactive session of practice and within Blackboard in an asynchronous environment for class presentations and guided learning exercises. Further development of listening comprehension and speaking skills and increased emphasis on reading, writing and cultural knowledge. Focus is on everyday life in France and other French- speaking countries. Prerequisite: FREN 102 with grade "C" or higher or equivalent.
