ART 392A Topics in Art or Media I Audio in Media 3 credits
| Designed to offer the fundamentals, principles and techniques of audio, music and sound FX production for time based media, performance and installation. The course begins with the physics of acoustic generation, acoustics and psycho acoustics. From this foundation the course focuses on the tools and techniques of the recording and editing chain in both the digital and analog domains. Topics include microphones, mixing consoles, patchbays, recording systems, amplifiers, speakers and ancillary devices (equalizers, compressors, limiters). Also includes hands-on projects providing an introduction to the processes of audio production. Note: Students will have access to the lab between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily.
