UMBC's Continuing and Professional Studies includes programs offered by the Division of Professional Education and Training (DPET) and UMBC Training Centers, LLC. Training Centers and DPET offer individuals and organizations customized, high-quality, credit and non-credit training, certificate and degree programs that reflect the values of a major research university and the performance of a private company. Enrolling over 12,500 students and professionals annually, the combined enterprise offers programs on-campus, onsite, online and at the Universities at Shady Grove in Rockville, MD.

UMBC Training Centers offers high-quality, affordable training and certification to individuals and organizations in the Baltimore region. Through its strategic alliance with UMBC, Training Centers draws on university faculty and industry practitioners to provide state-of-the-art coursework that leads to first-time employment or career advancement. Training Centers offers non-credit short courses in the areas of information technology, biotechnology, engineering, professional development, business and allied health. Training Centers also provides flexible, custom training for business, government and the nonprofit sectors through its Contract Training initiatives.
