Harpo Staff   Mary Lilly has worked for UMBC for approximately ten years. Formerly of the UMBC Physical Plant, joined the Research Administration staff in 2007. Her responsibilities in the Human and Animal Research Protections Office include processing of protocol approval letters, renewal notices and maintaining the department’s databases. Mary can be reached at 5-3958 or lilly@umbc.edu.     Tim Sparklin is the Administrator for the Human and Animal Research Protections Office. He has been at UMBC since 1992 and, since 1996, been responsible for many areas of  research compliance at the university, including human participant protections, animal care and use, conflict of interest management and the education and training of  investigators. He holds a Master’s of Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore and is a Certified IRB Manager by the National Association of IRB Managers.
