With 683,536 books and more than 1,000 wired telecommunications jacks in the library alone, as well as 2,000 on-campus computers, 10,000 computer accounts, and a huge bank of dedicated modems for on and off-campus access, UMBC is a connected information technology environment. That doesn't even include recent acceptance into group of 100 universities developing the new high-speed, Internet II research computing network.
