Joško Caleta (Trogir,
1964) is ethnomusicologist, music pedagogue and conductor.
Graduated in music education at the Academy of Music in Split,
and got hid M.A. in ethnomusicology at the University of British
Columbia in Vancouver (Canada). Since 1997 assistant at the
Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research, the only
institution in Croatia wich enables scientific work for
ethnomusicologists. A membere of expert, advisory and
prize-awarding juries at festivals throughout Croatia, among
others at the Omiš Dalmatian

Since 1979 he is a Klapa
singer (Klapa Trogir), and later also a conductor (Klapas
Trogir, Radovan, Kairos). During his stay in Canada
the conductor of the Vancouver choir and Klapa Zvonimir, the
winner of the best ethnic choir award in Canada (1994 and 1996). He
continues his work with the klapas after his return to Croatia as
a musical associate and producer to Klapas from Zagreb (Jelsa,
Nostalgija, Sagena, Dispet). In the year 2000 the Josip Andreis
prize, which is annually awardede by the Croatian Composer's Society for
the achievements in musicology, was awarded to him and Naila Ceribasic
for the double CD Croatian Traditional Music.
