The main goal of my research is the development of nanoscale, electrochemical sensors and investigating improvements of the sensitivity and detection limits afforded by moving to the nanoscale. With these sensors, I am interested in monitoring the communication between glial cells via the release of adenosine triphosphate in the central nervous system. The methodology I will develop will be able to function at the single cell level as well as in vivo. Additionally, It should be adaptable to a wide range of biomolecular targets thus representing a powerful bioanalytical technique for measuring cell communication.
