Directions to UMBC
We are located just 15 minutes from downtown Baltimore, and about 25 minutes from I-495.
From Baltimore and points north, proceed south on I-95 to exit 47B. Take Route 166 toward Catonsville and then follow signs to the campus and visual and performing arts venues.
From I-695, take Exit 12C (Wilkens Avenue) and continue one-half mile to the entrance of UMBC at the intersection of Wilkens Avenue and Hilltop Road. Follow signs to visual and performing arts venues.
From Washington and points south, proceed north on I-95 to Exit 47B. Take Route 166 toward Catonsville and then follow signs to the campus and visual and performing arts venues.
The road that encircles the main part of campus is Hilltop Circle.
The Recital Hall, the Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture, and Studios 317, 318 and 508 are located in the Fine Arts Building. The Albin O. Kuhn Library Gallery is located in the Albin O. Kuhn Library. The UMBC Theatre is located off Commons Drive.
Parking
Please be careful where you park. Campus roadways and lots require display of a UMBC permit Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Permits are enforced year round.
If you are parking here during those time, please park in metered visitor parking. Meter fees are $.25 for each 15 minutes, quarters only, maximum time of 5 hours. Meters are not enforced on University observed holidays. (Parking Services does not guarantee that change will be available on campus, but there are change machines in the parking garages.)
For the Albin O. Kuhn Library Gallery, metered visitor parking is available in the Walker Avenue Garage. To get to the Walker Avenue Garage, circle around Hilltop Circle (either direction) until you reach Walker Avenue. Take Walker Avenue toward the center of campus. The garage will be on your right.
For the Theatre, metered visitor parking is available in the Commons Garage. To get to the Commons Garage, circle around Hilltop Circle (either direction) until you reach Commons Drive. Take Commons Drive toward the center for campus. The garage will be on your left.
For events in the Fine Arts Building (including the Recital Hall and the Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture), parking is available after 3:30 p.m. on weekdays and all day during weekends in gated Lots 16/9A for a $.50 fee, quarters only. To get to these parking lots, circle around Hilltop Circle (either direction) until you reach Hilltop Road. Take Hilltop Road toward the center of campus. (The Fine Arts Building will now be directly in front of you.) Proceed through the stop sign. The road will curve to the right. You will need to deposit 50¢ (two quarters) to open the gate. If Lot 16 is full, you can also pay to park in Lot 9A, which sits on the hill immediately above Lot 16just go back to the stop sign and turn left toward Lot 9A, and then to the gate. If both these Lots are full (which would be unusual in the evening), then park in the Commons Garage, Walker Avenue Garage or Lot 10.
General metered visitor parking is available in Lot 10, located near the Administration Building.
