Undergraduate Commencement

INFORMATION FOR FACULTY, STAFF AND ADMINISTRATION

Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at 10 a.m.
in the Retriever Activities Center

(Procession begins promptly at 9:50 a.m.)

All faculty and staff are invited to participate in the Graduate School Commencement ceremony on Tuesday, December 22.   If you also plan to participate in the Undergraduate Commencement ceremony on Wednesday, December 23, see the Faculty/Staff/Administration section for details regarding that ceremony.

RSVP no later than Monday, December 14, by using the electronic response form. The electronic response form will be available October 5. Completion of the form notifies the commencement staff that you plan to march in either or both of the ceremonies (Graduate School or undergraduate). It is important that we have a complete count for seating arrangements, so please RSVP using the electronic form even if you have your own regalia.

RENTING REGALIA
UMBC will subsidize the rental of academic regalia for faculty, administrative and associate staff. The Bookstore will begin to accept orders for regalia on October 5. To reserve regalia, please use the electronic response form.

If you have previously ordered regalia at UMBC with the online system, your information will automatically appear on screen when you enter your user name. If you have not ordered before, you must enter the following information: your cap size, height with shoes, weight, degree earned and the name of the school where the degree was earned.

Prior to October 26, there is no cost to the faculty and staff to rent regalia. Between October 26 and December 14, a $20 late fee will be charged. No regalia may be ordered after December 14. Even if there is a slight chance that you will attend Commencement, you should order regalia. It is easier for the Bookstore to return unused gowns and hoods than it is to place a late order and not receive delivery on time.

Regalia will be ready for pick-up at the Bookstore beginning on Monday, December 14, and will continue through Friday, December 18. Faculty and staff must pick up regalia at the Bookstore by Friday, December 18, because regalia will not be available at the RAC. For more information, call Gail Dupree at the Bookstore at 410-455-3904.

If you will also be participating in the Undergraduate ceremony, bring your regalia with you to the RAC on Wednesday.  If you will not be participating in the Undergraduate ceremony, return your regalia to the Bookstore immediately following the Graduate School ceremony – do not leave regalia at the RAC.
