Information for Faculty, Staff and Administration

Friday, December 21, 2012, at 10 a.m.
in the Retriever Activities Center

(Procession begins promptly at 9:40 a.m.)

All faculty and staff are invited to participate in the Undergraduate Commencement ceremony on Thursday, December 21. If you also plan to participate in the Graduate School Commencement ceremony on Thursday, December 20, see the Faculty/Staff/Administration section on the Graduate School Commencement Web site for details regarding that ceremony.

RSVP no later than Friday, December 10, by using the electronic response form. The electronic response form will be available October 8. Completion of the form notifies the commencement staff that you plan to march in either or both of the ceremonies (undergraduate or Graduate School). It is important that we have a complete count for seating arrangements, so please RSVP using the electronic form even if you have your own regalia.

RENTING REGALIA

UMBC will subsidize the rental of academic regalia for faculty and staff. The Bookstore will begin to accept orders for regalia on October 8. To reserve regalia, please use the electronic response form.

If you have previously ordered regalia at UMBC with the online system, your information will automatically appear on screen when you enter your user name. If you have not ordered before, you must enter the following information: your cap size, height with shoes, weight, degree earned and the name of the school where the degree was earned.

Prior to October 25, there is no cost to the faculty and staff to rent regalia. Between October 25 and December 10, a $25 late fee will be charged. No regalia may be ordered after December 10. Even if there is a slight chance that you will attend Commencement, you should order regalia. It is easier for the Bookstore to return unused gowns and hoods than it is to place a late order and not receive delivery on time.

Regalia will be ready for pick-up at the Bookstore beginning on Monday, December 10, and will continue through Monday, December 17. Faculty and staff must pick up regalia at the Bookstore by Monday, December 17, because regalia will not be available at the RAC. For more information, call Gail Dupree at the Bookstore at 410-455-3904.

Please return your regalia to the Bookstore immediately following the Undergraduate ceremony – do not leave regalia at the RAC after the ceremony.
