 Q & A

What are some ways to finance your child's education?
Everyone should fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Even if you think you are not eligible, a majority of people are eligible for an unsubsidized Stafford loan. Also, the state of Maryland has a Prepaid College Trust tuition savings plan where you can make contributions over many years. This is an easy way to invest your money to save for education. Visit www.collegesavingsmd.org or call 1 (888) 4MD-GRAD. To file a FAFSA on the web, visit www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Be sure to investigate community organizations, employers, clubs and any professional organizations that you or your child is affiliated with. Some may have scholarship opportunities you don't know about. Visit www.fastweb.com to find out about many scholarships that could be available to your student.
