B.A., Political Science
Attorney, Law Offices of Debora Fajer
Bowie, Maryland
She arrived in Maryland by way of Massachusetts and earlier, at age 6,
from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Debora Fajer was a mover...and still is. After
graduating from UMBC and earning a law degree from the University of
Maryland, Fajer opened her own law firm in her Maryland hometown of
Bowie. She's since expanded to add additional offices in Crofton and
Waldorf.
Fajer describes her UMBC experience like being at a private school. The
pre-law program, she notes, was outstanding. She had internships working
with Legal Aid in Baltimore City, spent a summer on Capitol Hill as a
Lyndon Baines Johnson Fellow, and while in law school, was a research
assistant for professor George LaNoue's book, Academics in
Court.
UMBC, Fajer says, gave her the inspiration and encouragement to be
successful. Establishing a law firm in Bowie was a chance to give
something back to the community in which she grew up, and she's received
several civic awards for her community involvement. She also is co-editor
of The Maryland Automobile Desk Handbook, a reference book on laws
pertaining to automobile accidents in Maryland.
