2010-2011 SCHEDULE
Following is the tentative schedule for our upcoming TQB Program
The TQB
comprehensive professional development program in Biology
is provided in
four steps:
- PHASE I: TQB
Preparation Course - Eleven Wednesday evening sessions with supplemental online exercises
and
meetings; Taught in Spring 2010 from 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

March 3, 10, 24, 31
April 14, 21, 28
May 5, 12
- PHASE II: "Hands-on" molecular biology laboratory training course - Taught in the summer over the course of ten days from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
DATES: June 21 to July 2, 2010 (weekends excluded)
- PHASE III - Fall 2010 Scientific Communication Evening Seminar The purpose of this evening session is to review concepts, introduce technology driven lessons through the use of freeware, and provide feedback on the final projects of the TQB Teacher Scholars as well as share lesson plans based on program content.
TENTATIVE DATE: Wednesday, October 13, 2010
- PHASE IV: "Share Our Success (SOS)
Conference," an all-day Spring 2011 Gala
to be hosted by the College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. This event enables participants to showcase knowledge learned and how they were able to incorporate it into their classroom. (To be held jointly with
participants in the TQC-Teacher Quality in Chemistry Program
at UMBC.)
