Twenty secondary school teachers were enrolled in the 2010 - 2011 Teacher Quality in Chemistry (TQC) Program at UMBC. This cohort included three teachers from Somerset County Public Schools who participated in a Distance-learning pilot. Admission was very selective as UMBC received 29 applications for the fourth year of the TQC Program, which is funded by
the Maryland Higher Education Commission.

Dr. Stephen Mang of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UMBC is pursuing funding from MHEC to continue the TQC Program for a fifth year. Please check back for updates for this proposed 2012-2013 Teacher Quality in Chemistry Program.

TQCYear4
Members of the TQC Year Four Cohort take a break from the Summer 2010 lab course to have a group photograph taken with education coordinator Fletcher Burchett and instructors Dr. Tara Carpenter and Dr. Tiffany Gierasch.

These dedicated teachers presented their final projects as posters at the Share Our Success Teacher Quality Seminar and Poster Session at UMBC's South Campus on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at UMBC's South Campus.
