The Office of the Provost has sponsored the Undergraduate Research and
Creative Achievement Day (URCAD) at UMBC since spring 1997. The 2008 URCAD was held Wednesday, April 23, 2008.This gala event, which features student oral presentations, poster sessions, and artistic exhibits and performances, draws increasingly large and diverse audiences each year.

The 22nd National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) was held April 10-12 at Salisbury University, Salisbury, MD. Next Conference will be in Spring 2009 at the Univ. of Wisconsin, LaCrosse. NCUR brings together undergraduates involved in scholarly and artistic activities representing a range of disciplines including creative arts, mathematics, business, social science, humanities, physical and life sciences, natural resources, and engineering, among others.

The FASEB MARC Program provides funding for TRAVEL AWARDS to support the participation of Faculty/ Mentors and Students, and Poster/Oral Presenters at selected scientific meetings and conferences. Details

The 11th annual CNMS Summer Undergraduate Research Fest will be held August 6, 2008. This research fest provides an opportunity for students in UMBC's various undergraduate research programs to present their research to the UMBC community of faculty and students.

The 9th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium in the Chemical and Biological Sciences will be held Saturday, October 11, 2008. Abstracts are due by September 19, 2008 and must be submitted online

Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) sponsored by the American Society for Microbiology. The 2008 ABRCMS meeting will be held Nov. 5-8, 2008 in Orlando, FL. Note: Deadline for abstracts and applications for travel awards is September 5, 2008. Advance Registration Deadline October 10, 2008. Travel awards available - see FASEB MARC Program
