Welcome to Group Fitness Summer 2011

Our instructors work very hard to provide a fun and safe workout for EVERY BODY! Butts & GutsThe mirrored walls, wooden dance floor, and integrated sound system of the Retriever Activities Center Fitness Studio create the perfect venue for the intense new group fitness classes we offer.
Each class is taught by a certified, experienced Group Fitness instructor, and is intended to be a fun, intense addition to any workout routine.
Classes are 55 minutes long unless specified otherwise, including an 8-12 minute warm-up for each class. Due to the popularity of Group Fitness at UMBC, some of the classes may be full. Sign-up sheets are available at the front desk of the RAC, beginning the morning before the class. Phone-in registration is available (410-455-8888).

We hope you enjoy this increasingly popular aspect of UMBC and invite everyone in the UMBC Community to join UMBC Group Fitness.

Policies

Classes are a group activity; we request that you follow the instructor's routine.

The warm-up at the beginning of the class is an important part of the workout; please try to attend any class at the start.

Be considerate of others' workout space.

Please wait for a class to conclude before entering the studio(s) to set up for the next scheduled class.

Appropriate exercise attire and shoes should be worn.
6
Please leave personal belongings and gym bags in the locker rooms.
7
Closeable, unbreakable water bottles are permitted and must be kept at the perimeter of the studio.

We request that cell phones and pagers be off or on silent mode
9
Proper attire is required; athletic, non-marking shoes, athletic shorts or pants, and an athletic shirt.

Please note: Some Group Fitness classes are more popular than others. Classes may fill quickly, and exceptions to the class size will not be made. If a class is full, a waiting list will be formed at the time of the class, at the RAC front desk. Classes begin promptly at their posted times, and any spots not filled by 5 minutes after the hour will be opened to the waiting list on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-registered participants arriving late to the class will not be given preference over any person on the waiting list, and will be placed on the waiting list in the order they arrive.
