The RAC Gym offers 3 full-court or 9 single baskets for open Basketball. In addition, each court can be set up for Volleyball or Indoor Tennis courts. During the semesters, Intramural Sports use the gym for sports like Indoor Soccer, Arena Football, Foul Shooting and Free-Throw contests, Full-Court Basketball, Volleyball 6 vs. 6, Intramural Tennis, Intramural Floor Hockey, and European Team Handball. In addition, UMBC Club Sports use the Gym Floor for Volleyball, and other indoor tournaments.

The RAC Arena, which served as the main gym floor before the RAC addition, is still a big part of recreation. In addition to the Varsity Basketball and Volleyball games held there, the Arena offers another venue for Intramural Indoor Soccer and European Team Handball.
With a seating capacity of approximately 4,000, the RAC Arena also serves as home for local High School Graduation Ceremonies, Concerts, and specialty camps.

Exclusively for recreation users and physical education classes with student-athletes using the RAC Arena weight room, the UMBC Community has a great way to improve the regular workout with the addition of a weight regime. At over 3,200 square feet, the RAC Weightroom has a complete array of free weight benches and pulley-machine stations, to ensure a fulfilling and effective workout.

On the 2nd floor of the RAC, from the front gates to the Fitness Studio, the "Cardio Balcony" (named thus because of the 30 pieces of cardio equipment spanning the distance) overlooks the RAC Gymnasium, with a clear view of all basketball courts, and the mtvU broadcast on the eight overhead T.V.s. Found on the Cardio Balcony are six Treadmills, eight Stair Climbers, five Eliptical Runners, six Stationary Bikes, four Recumbant Bikes, and one Sci-Fit® Upper body Cycle.
Should assistance with these machines be required, please inquire at the front desk.

At the end of the Cardio Balcony on the 2nd floor of the RAC, is the Fitness Studio. With a wall of mirrors, the Fitness Studio is the perfect venue for Group Fitness, Dance and Martial Arts instruction. At over 1200 square feet, the Fitness Studio is large enough for the use of the two heavy punching bags attached to the wall.
The Fitness Studio is also equipped with stereo speakers for use with the state-of-the-art stereo system, giving a fuller, more intense atmosphere for group fitness.
