NOBODY'S PERFECT

I feel a little more confident talking about this game now after the end of the Giants/49ers wild card game. At least this was only intramural wiffleball, and no state tax revenues will be lost, and the Dawgs won't sue me if I don't allow them to host a Superbowl in the next three years. But I've always said that you should never let one bad call (or up to four-ish) determine the outcome of the game. Psi Delt came out strong and as Brian Moore said, their bats didn't wake up early enough. Psi Delt was up 1-0 going into the sixth, and managed to score another four runs in the top of the sixth, giving them a five run lead, which looked like a mountain to overcome in this low scoring game. The Dawgs managed a two-run rally, but came up short in the 5-2 loss to Psi Delt. Congrats to Danny, Keith and the gang for avenging last year's 3-2 loss in the finals to the same team in one of the most exciting games of the year.

CARDIAC KIDS

This was the new most exciting game of the year. And I think I told Justin of the Gangstas the same thing every game they played. I first saw the Gangstas play in their 8-inning one game victory over Got Rice. The next game I saw was their semi-final game against Team. They led by one going into the 7th only to have Team score a run to tie it up and send it to extra innings. Then Team scored 3 runs for what looked like an insurmountable 7-4 lead, which the Gangstas managed to match exactly with a 3-run 2-out rally in the 8th. Finally, the Gangstas scored one in the bottom of the 9th to win the game 8-7. And this championship game was much the same. Unfortunately, this one didn't end the same way. This time, they found themselves up two runs going into the final inning against a team that has won the tournament the last two years in a row. But they had just lost their mens game and wanted revenge. They scrapped together a 2-out 3-run rally in the bottom of the 7th to close the game and steal the shirts right off the back of the Gangstas. Congratulations for a hard fought season, and congrats to the Dawgs for bringing it together when it really counted.
