BETTER LATE THAN
NEVER
For years, they were so darn close. First there was
Cysko and soon after, there was
Snuggles. And they've acquired
Bobby and Bruce to fill in some
holes. They've always been close as long as those two were around,
but SAE always had Matty Bo and
Cliff and Little Cliff with
Kuch in goal. Then there was the hockey team, who
was always obviously pretty good and the Dawgs
(club baseball guys) who were probably just as good at hockey as
baseball. But none of those teams entered this tournament, giving
Pi Kapp a legit shot at their first title in the
internet age. Not only that, but they scooped up a few hockey guys
to give them a hand. They probably didn't expect
Teke to be nearly as tough as they were. But Teke
has their share of players. They got Windsor,
Costa and Nick, plus they
picked up Jacob from the ice hockey team (who took
a beating in the championship game). And Keith is
actually a pretty decent goalkeeper. Don't know if he ever played it
before, but he played it well. Pi Kapp jumped out to a 3-1 lead
early in the second period, but Teke erased that lead with Jacob's
goal in the final 4 minutes. It looked to be heading into a golden
goal overtime period when no one scoed for the next three minutes.
But with under a minute left, Pi Kapp snuck one in the back of the
net. Unable to score, Teke fell a goal shy of winning their first
hockey tournament in the internet age. Congrats to Pi Kapp and
thanks to both those teams and The Edge for playing
and making the tournament happen after postponing it twice. I'll see
you all in the fall.

February 18, 2004 - So we're gonna do it. This Saturday. We got three teams and a couple free agents and a schedule and prizes and all that good stuff. February 16, 2004 - OK. We finally got enough people to have a tournament.
We're gonna do it! We got enough teams (3) to actually play the
tournament. The meeting will be tomorrow (Wednesday 2/18) at 1:00 in
RAC 224. All free agents and newcomers welcome. If you are seeing
this for the first time and want to sign up a team, give me a call

February 16, 2004 - Roll tape! Marker. UMBC Weekend Hockey Tournament, Take three. OK, so this is the scene where the great white knight swoops down to save the hockey tournament in distress. Translation: We need you to sign up for the hockey tournament today or e-mail me about it tomorrow if we are to have a tournament this weekend. The tournament would run in its entirety this Saturday, 2/21. I'd look to start it around noon and it would probably finish around 5pm. So if you want to play, sign up today. Cool. See ya there.
