With the opening of the Retriever Activities Center in 1999, UMBC decided to offer the extended UMBC Community the opportunity to enjoy our new facility. Now, you may purchase a membership to the RAC and enjoy the benefits of a convenient location on a university campus, state-of-the-art fitness opportunities and a comfortable environment in which to pursue your fitness goals, even if you are not a UMBC/UMB student or facutly/staff member.

RAC Memberships entitle you to access all of the UMBC Recreational facilities, which include the Aquatics Center, the Fitness Studio, the RAC Weight Room, the RAC Gymnasium, Indoor and Outdoor Tennis Courts, the Cardio Balcony, and the Indoor Track here, on the Facilities page. As a member, you can also attend aerobics classes at no additional charge.

Memberships can be purchased at the Front Desk of the Retriever Activities Center, Monday through Friday, 10am-9pm, Saturday, 11am-6pm, and Sunday 1pm-9pm. Applications are also available for download HERE. Membership applications should be completed by each person who is purchasing a membership and must be turned in, in person, at the RAC Front Desk. Memberships are available on an annual basis only.

Membership fees must be paid in full at the time of purchase. Fees can be paid in cash or by check. Make all check payable to: UMBC. The Membership Rates for the 2010-2011 Membership Season are as follows:

Community Memberships Anyone in the extended UMBC Community is eligible to become a RAC Member. Additional RAC Memberships for immediate family members can be purchased at a discounted rate after one Community Membership has been purchased. Immediate family members include: spouse and children.

UMBC Alumni UMBC Graduates are eligible to become RAC Members at a discounted rate. Immediate family members are eligible to purchase RAC Membership when an alumni who is an immediate family members has also purchased a membership. Immediate family members include: spouse and children.

Immediate family members of UMBC/UMB Faculty/Staff and Employees are eligible to become RAC Members at a reduced rate. Immediate family members include: spouse and children.

Retriever Aquatics Memberships: Swimmers, Parents, Masters Swimmers Swimmers on the Retriever Aquatics Swim Team, Parents of children on the Retriever Aquatics Swim Team and current Members of the UMBC Masters Swim Team are eligible to purchase a RAC Membership at a discounted rate.

Daily Guest Passes: Any current RAC member may purchase a daily guest past to bring a non-member into the facilities. The guest shall have all rights to the facilities as a member would. The member shall be responsible for their guest and know their whereabouts at all times.

Please note: Dependents under 16 years of age must be under direct supervision of an adult with a valid University ID or RAC Membership. The Weight Room is not available to anyone 16 years of age or younger.
