ACTiVATE is a year-long program to train women with significant technical or business experience to be entrepreneurs and to create start-up companies from inventions from Maryland research institutions and federal agencies. Admission to the program is competitive. Although the application process for the class of 2008 is closed, it is not too early to get on the list to receive information about the 2009 application process. ACTiVATE classes are now held on Mondays.

The ACTiVATE Program is recruiting for its
next class beginning in February 2009.

ACTiVATE Benefits:

  • Hands-on applied approach using cutting-edge technologies to form companies
  • Instruction and coaching by experienced entrepreneurs

  • Support in forming companies
Sample backgrounds of first year graduates:
  • Ph.D. researcher from National Institutes of Health (NIH)
  • Experienced biotechnology business development consultant
  • Management team member, with an M.B.A., in an information technology start-up
  • Ph.D. researcher in engineering
