Advising Resources for Faculty and
Professional Resources
Resources include:
MyUMBC Account Generation and Access
Faculty and staff with direct or support roles in advising and course instruction have access to academic functionality via myUMBC. Online services include the ability to grant advising and course authorizations and to view class and hold lists. In addition, My Academic Profile (MAP) provides access to student data such as transcripts, advising profiles, undergraduate progress reports, and transfer credit details. Faculty and staff requiring access to myUMBC’s academic functionality should follow these
instructions. New faculty and staff who do not yet
have access to myUMBC should first create
an account.
Individual Training
Our staff will tailor a training session for faculty members or a department. Individual training allows for addressing specific needs and questions.
Advising Community Meetings
Advising Community Meetings are held twice per
semester. Meeting topics are designed to facilitate
discussion on current national trends & issues in
the field of academic advising, the sharing of best
practices across academic units and important academic
policy updates. Advising Community meetings provide
an on-campus professional development opportunity for
academic advisors.
For more information on the Advising Community Meetings or to schedule an Individual Training session,
please contact – Dr. Ken Baron, Director of Academic & Pre-Professional Advising at 455-8113 or kbaron@umbc.edu
