
Maryland's GED Testing Program
Obtaining a Transcript
The GED Office will no longer issue duplicate diplomas. However, an official transcript of scores may be requested by mail or in person.
To make your request by mail:
- Send a letter to:

- Your letter must include your name, Social Security number, the approximate date you tested, your current address or the address where the transcript is to be mailed (if different) and your full, legal signature.
- Also include a check or money order (payable to the GED Office) in the amount of $5.00 per copy.
- Transcripts are mailed within 5-10 days of receipt.
- To make your request in person:

Monday-Friday between the hours of 10:00 am and 1:00 pm.
- Bring with you a money order ONLY (no cash) for $5.00 and a picture ID.
- Your transcript will be prepared while you wait or we will mail it (to a college/employer) if you prefer.
If requesting a transcript for someone else, the GED Office requires a letter from the GED recipient along with their signature authorizing the release of their scores to a third party.
The letter must include:
- The recipient's name
- Social Security number
- A forwarding address
- Their signature
- The name of the person that is authorized to pick up the transcript.
- Note: A picture ID of the person authorized to pick up the transcript is required.

Verification of Diploma
- For employment purposes requiring diploma verification, please fax a release form with the social security number and full signature of the individual to the GED Office at 410-333-8435.
We will respond via phone or fax machine within two to three days.
