T. Rowe Price Scholars at UMBC

The Baltimore-based financial management company
T. Rowe Price & Associates is building a multifaceted partnership with UMBC, one that ultimately will serve to help build Maryland's technology-related workforce. The company has hired a number of UMBC alumni and became one of the corporate sponsors of UMBC's new Visionaries in Information Technology series. In addition, the company's T. Rowe Price Associates Foundation this year initiated the first full, four-year scholarships for exceptional UMBC students interested in economics, computer science, or information systems.

UMBC is the only university to forge such a scholarship relationship with the TRP Foundation, and eight scholars will be chosen during the next four years. The scholars program will enable these students to pursue their studies without the distraction of having to work to complete their education, but it offers one additional special benefit: The T. Rowe Price Scholars also can apply for paid summer internships at the company, giving them opportunities for taking what they've learned in their college classes and applying it to real-world situations.
