Ideas in Focus: Visionaries in Information Technology

Bagels and IT proved to be a most stimulating breakfast
menu when UMBC inaugurated the first Visionaries in Information Technology
breakfast series.
The series brought distinguished experts and industry
luminaries together with Baltimore-Washington-area business
leaders and UMBC faculty and students to discuss the future
of IT and its critical role in shaping the modern business environment.
Featured visionary speakers ranged from Arthur Johnson,
vice president of corporate strategic development for
Lockheed Martin, talking about his company's innovative
use of new and emerging technologies, to Allan Chernoff,
CNN Financial News senior correspondent, discussing the
future of investing in Internet companies.
It was a new twist on traditional networking and
was so successful that a new season of Visionaries in
Information Technology forums is being planned.
The Visionaries series was sponsored by: Comcast, AT&T,
Aether Systems, Allfirst Financial, Capita Technologies,
Lockheed Martin, Lucent, Marriott International, Piper Marbury Rudnick & Wolfe,
T. Rowe Price, TEKsystems, Verizon, the Greater Baltimore
Technology Council, and the High Technology Council of Maryland.
