Welcome to Fall 2009! Classes begin on Tuesday, September 1st!

Mission Statement:

The Mission of the UMBC Fitness and Wellness Program is to provide fitness activities that contribute to the health, well-being and social development that enhance the learning outcomes of the UMBC community. The UMBC Fitness and Wellness program offers appropriate and effective fitness opportunities to UMBC students, faculty/staff and RAC members that are safe, fun, and promote healthy, active lifestyles.

Fitness and Wellness consists of Group Fitness, Personal Conditioning, Small Group Classes, and Fitness Clinics.

 


Personal Conditioning offers the UMBC community the opportunity to train in an individual or small group setting. Our personal conditioning trainers offer individualized attention to help each person meet their personal fitness goals. More information can be found on the Personal Conditioning pages.

 


Group Fitness provides a positive and healthy environment in which participants can engage in strength training and cardiovascular training. With a personal commitment, the Group Fitness and its instructors will help participants achieve a healthy lifestyle in a diverse and inclusive learning community. For those participants that would like a smaller format with more progression and individualized attention we also off Small Group Classes. Our Small Group Classes began the week of September 8th, but we still have room! You can register as long as space is available and pay for only the classes you attend!

Starting September 25th from 12-1 pm we will be offering a six week Bellydancing class! See the small group schedule for more information



We also offer a variety of Informational Clinics. Check out our Get Fit Clinic this fall to find out how to measure your current fitness levels and design a personal fitness plan. Join us for one of our RAC Walking Tours to find out whats available for students, faculty, staff, and RAC members!

UMBC Rec Sports is looking for certified and experienced personal conditioning trainers for the Fall 09 semesters. Join our team of talented instructors as we continue to expand our program to bring more fitness opportunities to the UMBC community. Work in a fun enviornment doing something you enjoy!
