Entrez: a web-based search engine for journal articles from the Medline database. Entrez has the very powerful ability to identify articles closely related in content. It allows you to rapidly build bibliographies. If you are using EndNote to do your references you can import the references!

The Department's list of on-line journals: A list of all (?) the online journals available in biosciences. Some of these allow full on-line access to papers, so you can download them from within your browser (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader).

The Albin O. Kuhn Library's list of links to electronic journals. All of these journals are available to UMBC students, faculty and staff.

The Department's list of on-line reference materials: This is a rather eclectic list of on-line resources for biologists from genome databases (e.g. from the Saccharomyces cerevisiae [yeast] database to Pedro's BioMolecular Research Tools). Try them out and see what you get from them.

For those of you who have a problem with a genetic term there are Genetics Dictionaries or Glossaries available on line. Here are two:
• A Genetics Glossary at the University of Edinburgh
• A searchable genetic dictionary at the University of Texas
