The Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) seeks to join together universities and colleges in the common mission of increasing the number of underrepresented minority students earning P.h.D. and positioning them to become leaders in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.
Each AGEP alliance employs creative administrative strategies, develops infrastructure, and engages in substantive partnerships with nondoctoral-granting institutions (many minority-serving institutions) to enhance recruitment, retention, and advancement.

Fully-funded scholarships for outstanding students available for accelerated Ph.D. or M.D. Ph.D. combined training
All students are *FULLY FUNDED* by the NIH for the duration of their doctoral work and receive a stipend. We now also offer support for combined M.D./PhD training in which the PhD is obtained at Oxford or Cambridge and the M.D. is obtained from one of the 41 top American medical schools that have Medical Scientist Training Programs.

The free CCG (Career Communications Group) Hi-Tech Career Fair and Conference will be held February 16, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Baltimore Convention Center. Representatives from several major corporations and universities will be on hand to meet with students pursuing careers in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields as well as Business, Finance, and Marketing.
Interested students should pre-register in the Career Services Center (MP204).
The pre-registration deadline is Friday, February 1, 2008. Contact Diane Crump-Fogle in the Career Center for additional information. All students are welcome to attend.

Many soon-to-be and new graduates don’t know what they’re going to do come commencement. Luckily, help is close at hand! UMBC’s Career Services Center will be holding a two day workshop (Thursday, January 17 and Friday, January 18) focusing on a non-traditional job search process that will open up new opportunities and allow you to find not just a job to pay the bills, but work that you love!
Knowing what you’re good at and love to do is key to getting employers to hire you. This workshop will allow you to uncover, believe in, and effectively communicate your true strengths.
