Digital Systems seeks an IT Specialist
Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Technology Administration, Information Systems
Columbia, Md
UMBCworks ID# 9217266

*Its more than just hardware and software, its all about business!*

The candidate will be involved in technical support services including: network support and maintenance, network and systems design, information security issues, server and PC repairs/maintenance, data recovery, break/fix issues. Website development and maintenance skills would also be useful.

Special research and development projects come about frequently which may require "out-of-the-box" thinking and solutions. The ability to handle a soldering iron has proven necessary, too.

Knowledge and experience in PC/Server hardware and software maintenance is a plus. Remote server and network administration will be required. Operating systems and application environments include XP, Vista, Microsoft Windows 2003 Server, Apache, Microsoft Exchange, data backup/recovery strategies, communications, VPNs, WANs, network intrusion detection/prevention.

The candidate will work side-by-side more senior technical and sales staff and our clientele directly.

Our regional clients include small to medium sized businesses, research companies, federal DOD, intelligence and civilian agencies. No travel necessary beyond the general Baltimore/Washington DC metropolitan area.

Ability to obtain security clearances may be necessary in the future.

This is a very "hands-on" position that will require imagination, technical creativity, and a "never say die" attitude. There must be 10,000 ways to skin a cat (and we apologize to the cat lovers).

The most important skill to have is to "know what you know, know what you don't know, and know how to look it up".

Salary: Negotiable, Benefits and Bonuses are included
