The Association of Independent Maryland Schools is host a job fair to find students interested in teaching in independent schools. Independent schools are private, non-profit, elementary, and secondary schools governed by a Board of Trustees. Independent school teachers experience a personal, family-like work environment, a sense of community, high academic expectations, and highly motivated students.
There are opportunities to shape courses and curriculum and a chance to affect the
development of young people through work in and out of the classroom. There are
small classes and few problems with discipline. Each independent school admits
students who will benefit most from its program.
Salary compensation, benefits, teaching load, schedule, and extra assignments will vary
with each school. Skills, interests, and talents beyond specific teaching credentials may
be important.
Independent private schools are particularly interested in promoting diversity in

Directions:
From the West or South: Take I-695, Baltimore Beltway, (west from I-95), to Exit 18
east - Lochearn and Liberty Road (Route 26). Follow Liberty Road (and signs to
Pimlico Race Track) east for 2.1 miles to Northern Parkway and turn left. Follow
Northern Parkway for 4.8 miles, passing Pimlico, I-83 (Jones Falls Expressway), and
Falls Road. Roland Avenue is the first light at the top of the hill. Turn right onto
Roland Avenue and Gilman will be immediately on your left. There will be signs
indicating where to park.
From the East or North: Take I-695, Baltimore Beltway, to Exit 23 and take I-83 south
to Northern Parkway eastbound. Turn left onto Northern Parkway. Roland Avenue
will be at the light at the top of the hill, past Falls Road. Turn right on Roland
Avenue and Gilman will be immediately on your left. There will be signs indicating
where to park.
