The instructional designer will collaborate with department managers, subject matter experts, and other training team members to develop online training programs specific to the company’s educational products, processes, and technology. The instructional designer will help identify training needs and desired outcomes and develop web-based training and assessment programs to address those needs. He or she will also track the effectiveness of all training materials and work to improve and alter all programs as needed. A background in developing online/web-based training programs and excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Develop and implement the delivery of online training programs specific to the company’s needs (including, but not limited to: teacher and principal training of the Learning Management System, the curriculum, company policies and processes; student and parent training on the Learning Management System and how to manage home-based instruction; employee training of key departmental tasks and processes, etc.)
• Develop an overall general understanding of the Connections Academy instructional program and its products (curriculum and technology) from the perspective of all participants (students, parents, teachers, principals, employees, etc.)
• Collaborate with team members on training strategies most suitable for the subject matter, goals, and intended audience(s)
• Develop audio scripts, narratives, and storyboards for blended training and web-based training solutions
• Create training assessments based on training objectives
• Utilize measures to track and evaluate training sessions and make improvements/revisions to training packages
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Background in instructional design, education, learning technology, or related field
• Minimum 3–5 years experience developing online training and working with learning technologies
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Experience writing instructional, business and/or technical documents and/or presentations
• Experience writing Flash-based training and/or instructional lessons
• High degree of flexibility
• Ability to work well in fast-paced environment
• Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
• Resourceful and a self-starter
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Attentive to detail, quality-focused, flexible, and deadline-oriented
• Highly technologically proficient (especially with Microsoft Office products, Web applications, HTML, Flash, Captivate, various web-based training products and platforms, etc.
