Part-Time On-Campus Job

Requirements:
• Provide staff desktop support for applications, networking, and equipment.
• Maintain software updates including antivirus, critical windows updates, etc.
• Develop, design, maintain, improve, and support custom office website and related
dynamic applications.
• Manage the website links for registered student organizations.
• Manage student organization web spaces on AFS file system.
• Train Student Life Office Staff and Student Staff on website and software usage.
• Serve as primary liaison with the Office of Information Technology.
• Serve as department liaison to UMBC students, staff, and faculty.
• Serve as designer for web based, user centered information management system
• Price new IT equipment, identify loopholes and choke points in the IT infrastructure
and increase efficiency.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
• Must understand basics of the AFS file system, group management, and user
management.
• Must understand use of .htaccess files and the basics of the Apache web server.
• Proficiency in XHTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript .
• Proficiency in Adobe Dreamweaver and Fireworks or Photoshop (Flash a plus).
• Proficiency in user administration and problem solving.
• Proficiency in database systems (MySQL preferred)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Working knowledge of Linux and bash.
• Working knowledge of PHP and MySQL web applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Dependable, punctual, self directed, responsive, customer-service oriented.
• Must be able to translate staff abstractions into implementable solutions.
