The incumbent ensures the accuracy and integrity of data and applications through efficient coding, generating clear and concise documentation, and resolution of problems. Assist with the development, testing and implementation of efficient and maintainable program logic for existing and new applications in accordance with technical specifications. Translate functional specifications and change requests into technical specifications.
Principal Accountabilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Programmer Analyst (or above), the incumbent's accountabilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
40% - Performs coding, testing and revisions to existing applications, and creates efficient and maintainable new applications.
30% - Monitors performance of critical system applications and resolves operational abends in accordance with corporate guidelines. Investigates problems reports to determine presence and scope of potential code defects.
20% - Develops business knowledge appropriate to team and section through reading, research, CBT's, and classroom training. Develops and maintains technical knowledge through training, classes, research, etc.
10% - Participates in Software Process Improvement activities.
Travel between all CareFirst locations may be required
