The NASA Center for AeroSpace Information (CASI), operated by Chugach Industries, Inc., is the primary operational facility for the Agency’s Scientific & Technical Information Program. Since the early 1960’s CASI’s mission has been to collect, organize, disseminate, and preserve both NASA and worldwide literature in the space sciences and aerospace engineering. CASI maintains a database of over 4 million records and provides digital information products and services to NASA, the broader aerospace community, and the general public. Chugach is currently seeking an information management professional with broad experience in metadata and document processing, information retrieval, and distribution and access control. This individual will directly support the ongoing evaluation/development of automated and manual procedures for metadata creation, classification, document processing, and information retrieval and delivery. The qualified candidate will also review and evaluate documents for inclusion into the NASA Aeronautics and Space Database, and may also provide quality control and production support to database creation operations. Work also includes providing support to the development of a subject-term thesaurus.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Mandatory –
BA or BS degree
Minimum of two years of experience performing related work. (This requirement can be waived if employee has or is working towards a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Sciences).
Preferred –
BA or BS degree in a science, engineering, or information management discipline
Knowledge of descriptive cataloging and/or abstracting and indexing
Experience in a NASA or technical information environment
Knowledge of Boolean search queries and experience with database analysis
