FALL 2009 ON-CAMPUS INTERVIEWS - Sign-up Deadlines Approaching!
The following employers will be at UMBC to conduct on-campus interviews with seniors (Dec 09 and May 10 grads) and graduate students for career-related positions. Listed below are those with application deadlines quickly approaching. The Idealist.org Washington DC Nonprofit Career Fair is generously hosted by The George Washington University Career Center.
The fair is co-sponsored by Teach For America and the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network Washington DC Chapter.
The nonprofit career fair will consist of:
An informal networking period for nonprofit recruiters and representatives from local colleges and university offices of career services.
The fair itself, where job seekers can distribute resumes and speak with nonprofit recruiters about current and future employment, internship, and volunteer opportunities.
Free information sessions offering nonprofit career advice to all job seekers.
The UMBC Career Services Center will be hosting An Evening with Industry: Featuring Non-Profit and Social Services. This event will be held in the Public Policy lobby from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, Thursday, November 12, 2009.
This program has been created especially for you to meet and network with professionals working in various human services, arts and social science career fields and to learn about career opportunities. If you are interested in working in a career field where you can make a
difference you won't want to miss this free event.
There are several things you need to do prior to the event:
• RSVP via the events tab in UMBCworks.
• We will be sending an electronic resume book to participating
employers. You will need to have an approved resume in UMBCworks in
order to be included in the book.
• Put together a professional outfit to wear to the event.
• Develop a 30 second commercial so you are prepared to meet and greet
our guests (tips at http://careers.umbc.edu/skills/network/30sec.php)
One of the tools that Career Services has created to assist you is the Career Development
Guide. It contains relevant and valuable information pertaining to all aspects of the job search. Consider this your guide book to career and job search planning. It can be found under the resources tab on our website, www.careers.umbc.edu.
