<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Library now subscribes to <a href="http://eebo.chadwyck.com/">Early English Books Online (EEBO)</a>.  It is a searchable full text database of over 95,000 titles published between 1475 and 1700. Over 125,000 titles anticipated (new titles are added each year). Searchable by author, title, subject & imprint information. Documents can be viewed online and or downloaded in PDF format (Adobe). The coverage is from ca. 1475 to 1700 (historical).</p>

Now you can search Oxford's bilingual dictionaries in French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian and Chinese. It can be searched or browsed, phonetic symbols are explained, and references can be emailed or exported to bibliographical software. Other features include audible pronunciation, grammatical notes, guides to cultural events of each country, and hints for writing in a variety of situations and formats.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Starting July 1, 2008, UMBC library users can now have access to <a href="http://www.oxfordreference.com/">Oxford Reference Online (ORO) </a></p>

<p>It includes full text of over 100 dictionaries, general reference, language reference, and subject reference works. You can access it either from the Database Search option on the library home page or via the Research Port. Also about 20 Oxford Online Encyclopedias library previously purchased are cross-searchable in ORO.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>UMBC students, faculty and staff now have access to the long-awaited <a href="http://portal.isiknowledge.com/portal.cgi?DestApp=WOS&Func=Frame">Web of Science</a>.  As coverage only goes back to 1998,  please continue to make use of the many other very high quality databases to which the Library subscribes.  Access is available to all three online citation indexes which comprise Web of Science:  Science Citation Index, Social Sciences Citation Index and Arts & Humanities Citation Index.  Additional searchable resources are available from the Web of Knowledge homepage (choose from WoS drop-down menu).  The Library is developing training workshops for UMBC students and faculty.</p>
