Premieres of new works by Anna Rubin (Associate Professor/Composition) in Baltimore, Greensboro, and New York
Dr. Anna Rubin completed two new works that were premiered in 2009. “Composition of Shards of Sappho,” a computer-generated work in Surround-sound on the subject of Sappho's poetry, was completed in March 2009 and premiered at the Feminist Music and Theory Conference in
Greensboro, NC, May 29, 2009. The received its New York premiere in Jan. 2010 at Roulette, a renowned experimental music venue. Dr. Rubin also completed “Interspecies,” a commissioned piece by violist Marlow Fisher, for flute, viola and harpsichord, premiered at An Die Musik, Baltimore, on Jan. 26, 2009. She also accepted a commission from pianist Dr. Margaret Lucia, who will premiere Dr. Rubin’s “Life of the Bee II” on April 8, 2010 at UMBC.
