Young Composers Workshop, June 8, 2013

UMBC composers Drs. Linda Dusman and Anna Rubin are offering the 3rd Young Composers Workshop. Students ages 8-18 are invited to apply. In the workshop, they will compose for clarinet, violin, cello, and piano. Students will have the opportunity to meet at UMBC for one group lesson on June 8, 3-5 PM and receive three Skype lessons arranged individually with the instructors during the summer. The students' work will then be played by the well-known Strata Trio (Audrey Andrist, piano, Nathan Williams, Clarinet and James Stern, violin) as part of UMBC's Livewire Festival 4, on Sat., Oct 26, from 10AM-12:00PM. Professional level recordings will be made of all student compositions.

Option 1) A fee of $250 covers June 8, Skype lessons and Oct. 26 performance and recording.

Option 2) A fee of $125 covers the Oct. 26 performance and recording and is for students who are studying with other composition instructors.

Students who have been in the program previously are welcome to return. New students should submit a piece. Students who are new to composition are also encouraged to apply.

Any scores submitted should either be in Sibelius or in pdf format. We will accept up to 10 students.
