On June 13th 2006, Microsoft released a Windows Security Patch that among other things broke modem dial-up. This issue is affecting many other institutions and businesses in addition to UMBC modem users. This problem is not affecting Mac users.
We have been in contact with Microsoft and they informed us that they will be creating a new patch to fix this problem within 1-2 weeks. Until they release the revised patch you will need to uninstall the current patch and setup your machine to not install it again.
