On Sunday, June 17 2007, Oracle Calendar services will be unavailable from 1:00PM through 7:00PM. OIT will be making changes to our Calendaring environment.
**Will I notice any changes?
The most noticeable difference will be by customers that access Oracle calendar via the Web (calendar.umbc.edu). The initial Web login page will return to its previous look and feel. However, subsequent pages will continue to remain the same.
Customers that use the desktop Oracle Calendar Client will notice no differences.
**Why Are We Making These Changes?
In January, we had migrated our Calendar instance into a full install of the Oracle Collaboration Suite in order to provide over-the-air (OTA) services. However, the OTA provider we have finally settled on does not require this overhead, and it is easier for us to provide support for these services by using Oracle's stand-alone Calendar product. OIT should be in the position to deploy these services on a campus-wide basis by mid-July.
