Alumnus named first black battallion chief in Baltimore County Fire Department
Jonathan Hart (MPS, 2002) has been named a battalion chief by the Baltimore County Fire Department. He is the department's first black battalion chief. Hart also received his B.A. in Political Science from UMBC. At the May 29 promotion ceremony, he received the first Robert O. Lowery Award from the Guardian Knights, the Baltimore County chapter of the International Association of Black Firefighters. The award recognizes those who have advanced the role of minorities in the county fire department.
